Frequency Specific Microcurrent Therapy in Arvada & Longmont
Gentle microcurrent therapy personalized to your care.
Frequency Specific Microcurrent, commonly called FSM, uses very low-level electrical currents delivered through the skin.
At Alternative Family Medicine & Chiropractic, FSM may be incorporated into a personalized treatment plan alongside chiropractic care, soft-tissue therapy and other supportive approaches.
FSM is available at our Arvada and Longmont locations.
New to our practice? An initial consultation is required before scheduling standalone FSM treatments, even if you’ve received FSM elsewhere or were referred specifically for this therapy.
What Is Frequency Specific Microcurrent?
Frequency Specific Microcurrent uses electrical current measured in microamperes—much lower than the intensity commonly associated with traditional electrical muscle stimulation.
During treatment, specific frequencies and placements are selected based on the patient's individual needs and the areas being addressed.
Because the current is very low, treatment is typically gentle and requires no injections or invasive procedures.
How We Use FSM
FSM isn't a one-size-fits-all treatment or a standalone answer to every concern.
Instead, our providers may incorporate it when appropriate as one part of a broader care plan.
Patients may explore FSM as supportive care for:
Musculoskeletal discomfort
Muscle and soft-tissue tension
Recovery following injury
Scar tissue concerns
Areas of persistent discomfort
Sports and activity-related recovery
Complementary nervous system and wellness support
Your provider will determine whether FSM is appropriate based on your health history, symptoms and individual goals.
What to Expect
During an FSM session, conductive materials are placed on or around the area being addressed so the low-level current can be delivered through the skin. You'll be able to relax comfortably during treatment while your provider selects the settings and treatment areas appropriate for your visit.
FSM may be used on its own during a dedicated session or incorporated with other therapies when appropriate.
Personalized, Integrated Care
One advantage of receiving FSM at Alternative Family Medicine is that it can be considered alongside the other services we provide.
Depending on your individual needs, your care may also include:
Chiropractic care
Soft-tissue therapy
Craniosacral Therapy
Injury or scar tissue work
Movement and lifestyle recommendations
Functional Medicine support
The goal is to select the tools that make sense for you rather than placing every patient on the same protocol.
